For the very first time an all female line-up of five finalists will be battling it out for the 2018 Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year!
Ranging in age from 14 to 21, they are oboist Emily Stephens, from Woodmancote, clarinettist Katie Jenner, from Wotton-under-Edge, saxophonist Lydia Kenny, from Cam and pianists Janice Ng, from Dean Close School, Cheltenham and Kimberley Mok, from Pates Grammar School, Cheltenham.
They were selected in the first rounds earlier this month from an entry of 10 talented youngsters from across the county which included pianists, woodwind, brass and strings players. The adjudicator was Professor Derek Aviss, former principal of Trinity College and president of Gloucestershire Academy of Music.
All five will compete in the Finals Concert on Tuesday March 6th at 7pm at Pittville Pump Rooms. Tickets are free for under-18s, all others £15 and can be obtained from the boxoffice@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk or by ringing 0844 576 2210.
