Rebecca won the Gloucestershire Young Musician title in 2015. Since then, she has completed her undergraduate degree in music at Oxford, where she twice achieved the highest solo performance mark in her year. She now studies at the Royal Academy of Music, and is principal cellist in the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra. She recently toured Japan with the Royal Academy Soloists.
As well as the Haydn concerto, the concert includes Mendelssohn’s well-loved Italian Symphony, and Mozart’s effervescent overture to his opera Marriage of Figaro.
The concert is at St Catharine’s Church, London Road, Gloucester on Saturday 22 June at 7.30 pm. Full concert and ticket details are here.
Engagements this season include performances of Prokofiev’s Concerto No.2 in London and with Sinfonia Cymru, and Berg’s Chamber Concerto at the Poznan Spring Festival with the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra. He gives recitals at Wigmore Hall, Sage Gateshead, Colston Hall Bristol and the RNCM, and in 2014 makes his USA debut at The Phillips Collection in Washington.
Over the last year Bartosz has given recitals at Wigmore Hall, the Brighton, Lichfield and Gower Festivals and Lublin Philharmonie, undertaken collaborative projects as soloist, leader and director with Sinfonia Cymru, and appeared as soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bristol Ensemble and Sinfonia Juventus. He also performed the Beethoven Concerto at Cadogan Hall and the Elgar Concerto in the Donatella Flick conducting competition.
In Prokofiev’s Solo Violin Sonata op.115 he found considerable depths without compromising the work’s essential naivety….He has a gift for great lyrical fluency which was used to good effect in Elgar’s E minor Sonata op.82…..This was a strong and poetic performance.
